There are no TV license in Australia is required, but they still have the ABC (Channel 2 in Victoria) and 0, both without any advertising channel. You can also produce still popular TV shows, without royalties. I understand Australian TV is supported financially by the government. How does it work? Is this a better system then with us?
How come there is no tv licence in Australia yet they can still have channels without adverts?

I don’t think it’s a better system than ours. If the Australian system is as you describe then even people who don’t own tellies have to pay – and I know quite a few people who choose not to have one.
The British systems seems a perfectly sensible compromise – people who own a telly pay.
It’s still paid for by the people in taxes to the Government.
The BBC TV licence is less than £3 a week, but if Council Tax went up more than that people would be up in arms.
I don’t mind paying for the best broadcasting corporation in the world.
And I find it ridiculous that SKY has a subscription, AND adverts!!
