www.learningdslrvideo.com 4 years ago I spent a lot of time testing three NLE’s before I plunked down a ton of money on software to edit my videos from my then new AVCHD camcorder. I tested Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere and Pinnacle Studio which at this time were the only ones to support the new AVCHD file format. Now DSLR video (.mov file) is the new format I am testing for. My Sony Vegas Pro 10 trial period is ending soon so I wanted to compare it to Premiere Pro CS5 before putting down more money for an Vegas upgrade ($139 with discount code). To be honest Vegas Pro 10 is better than 9 but I am still disappointed. Sony purchased Vegas years ago and they let their engineers build a good project but Sony also sells lots of TV and they want everyone that just got a new HD TV to upgrade again to 3D TV’s. So Vegas 10 is all about 3D and Adobe is all about editing DSLR video format with their cool Mercury engine. This is my first video of the transition from Vegas to Premiere. Is anyone else making the switch. The video below was created with Premiere.

Hi Dave, I like your videos.
. mov is working in Sony Vegas already
Just a quick question. I’m using a Sony HDR-SR11 AVCHD camcorder. With Premiere Pro CS5 I tried to import the files, but no audio appears. only the actual video. any clues? Thank you: D
That was what my grief. Thank you for solving it for me.
Thumbs up, he is not a Mac person!
Very good. Thanks
@ Watchmyshoes22 you can see all of my rig on my page on my website. No overclocking.
@ Drumat5280 What is your entire system? did you overclock?
Dave, you can use the same task in the timeline. Simply drag the Fill Left or Fill Right “, as the case may be, from the audio-effects panel to the clip.
However, it might be a good suggestion, Adobe to add this feature on the right mouse button menu. . . suggest something for CS6. . .
Dave – you can use the audio as soon as it on the timeline. A mono track is really easy in Premiere Pro. Just type “fill” in the Effects palette. This gives you the Fill Left or Fill Right effects. This allows you to copy the sound left or right channel, so you get the same on both channels.
I’m on Premiere CS5 circuit – last time I had second Premiere Premiere 0i to Las Vegas back then because it is the only editor, real-time effects rendering was offered to turned on / preview – then had to make one / all effects and titles pre-render in Premiere, and it was old took / forever: P
@ KanocularTV I went with the 240 GT, I have two videos next week on the topic.
Hi Dave! Very nice videos! I also have the Mercury playback engine enables in Premiere Pro and it works perfectly. What graphics card you are right now?
Have you thought about Final Cut Pro?
I said the same concerns. As with Sony Vegas, Vegas Movie Studio Platinum HD 10 is a switch to update cost or without a learning curve. As with DSRL. MOV files to use Cineform neoscene for transcoding to chroma interpolation in 4:02:00 to 04:02:02 format during transcoding. The two purchases are less than $ 200 total.
Dave, if you are crack to Las Vegas 10th . I can tell you how it goes.
I use Premiere Pro to edit my videos T2i. I tried Song Vegas a year ago, but did not know how to use it.
I’m beginning to try.
@ Drumat5280 you can use it as a student discount for 350 to get.
I use Premiere CS5 and really love it. I like it even better is the Final Cut Pro.
@ Drumat5280 I have the Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 (PNY EVGA but could also be good). Mine is not working for me laut.Das minimum is 750MB, but you should get one with 1GB and it has to be Nvidia.
@ Drumat5280, OH !!!!!!! its tooooo much !!!!! You can buy another T2i instead:) what yu say?
@ Olphus what you got? and it makes a lot of noise?
I have a Mercury engine in my PP. I have one of the cheapest 1GB Nvidia cards and uses a very simple hack to make ME compatible, and it works perfectly.
